New site with numerous cattle to be worked. Left the hard paved road and travelled well into the countryside north of Tanga. A circular corral had been built using Acacia tree limbs and branches; thorns made it not unlike barbed wire. A chute / “crush” had been constructed at the opposite end from the entry to the circular Acacia corral. We worked about 1300+ cattle through by 1730 hours when we departed. Protocol was same as yesterday: injectable ivermectin, FMD vaccine, and pour on deltamethrin. Because ivermectin was running low I returned to Hotel Mkonge to retrieve more. Previous resupply mission retrieved additional FMD vaccine. Round trip took about 1.5 hours. When I returned they had run out of ivermectin 10 minutes ago. Locals provided some cooked goat and banana for lunch.
