Went to a new site today with a more sturdy “crush” and larger, more “Brahma” acting cattle. More like working them in the southeastern US with typical Brahama cattle cries when they are in the chute being vaccinated, etc. Vaccinated 377 for FMD and treated with ivermectin injectable plus pour on permethrin derivative (deltamethrin) Bayer product “Bayticol.” One calf with lymphadenitis was bled and blood heparinized and EDTA preserved for smear tomorrow for East Coast Fever, trypanysomiaisis. Getting there north of Tanga we drove through several villages with cultivated areas of corn and cassava. I noticed what appeared to be number of ricin plants growing off the road. Several large centipedes / millipedes in the area.
